Hymn for the Body is a yoga-based movement and meditation workshop accompanied by live music. If you’re curious about movement and music, then come along and explore your physicality in a supportive, approachable atmosphere. Surrounded by an immersive soundscape, the aim is to help you feel uplifted, calm and connected to others.

Drawing upon trauma-informed methodology, yoga teacher Albee Barton will guide you through a session where live music and movement respond to and synchronise with each other. As the movement sequence progresses and shifts, the music will follow. Slower, restorative movement will be supported by gentle drones and flickering harmonics, but when the movement builds and the body generates more energy and heat, the music will rise and surge, then flow and recede.

Come and experience MPavilion 2022 in its garden setting, and contribute to the creation of an inclusive, caring and engaging atmosphere in public space.

There will be a limited number of yoga mats available to use, so participants are encouraged to bring their own, if they have one (and intend to partake in the practice on the ground). Any other props that may aid movement—such as blocks, blankets or bolsters—are also welcome.

The workshop has been created to be inclusive and engaging for everyone, regardless of their physical mobility.
