Ward has worked in the recycling industry for 25 years, and is the founder and sole Director of the Smart Resources Group. Smart runs three pallet recycling facilities in the North, West and South East of Melbourne. Over 600,000 pallets are repaired and recycled per annum.

Ward is also the founder of the Create from a Crate series of exhibitions. . Create from a Crate aims to highlight the value of timber waste, a resource that can be recycled, reused and upcycled into new items such as furniture, sculpture, musical instruments to name but a few.
