Rau Hoskins

Rau is from the Ngāpuhi Iwi (tribe), lives in Auckland, and works throughout Aotearoa and the Pacific in the fields of culturally connected architecture and landscape design. As a practitioner, researcher and educator working in the field of Māori architecture, housing and cultural landscape design, Rau brings a rare combination of Māori design skills coupled with significant experience with urban design, Māori heritage, cultural and educational design consultancy over the last 30 years.

Rau is a founding Director of design TRIBE architects (www.designtribe.co.nz established in 1994) which specialises in the field of Māori architecture particularly within cultural / marae, civic, visitor, health, urban design, educational and papakāinga environments.

Rau has been an Auckland Council urban design panel member from 2012 to 2020 and continues to work with Auckland Council and associated orgainisations in the application of Māori design principles in a range of high profile urban design projects including the City Rail Link (CRL).
