Dr Iain Butterworth

Trained in community psychology, Iain connects research, policy, and action in new ways by providing an interface between policymakers, researchers, and citizens. He brokers and leads community-engaged partnerships that put liveability, community capacity-building, quality of life and sustainability at the centre of policy, legislation and urban development. A Fulbright Scholar in 2003-4 and 2017, Iain has expertise in the WHO Healthy Cities program. He was also an Urban Scholar with the UN Global Compact – Cities Programme. In 2012, Iain helped to establish the Victorian Liveability research program now led by RMIT’s Healthy Liveable Cities Group.
